Theralux TVS Pro

The TVS Pro comes in 1, 1.25, 1.5 and 1.75 hp. As a rough guide, pools up to around 40,000 litres suit the 1 hp or 1.25 hp, mid-sized family pools suit the 1.5 hp, and larger pools or systems with long pipe runs, solar heating or in-floor cleaning suit the 1.75 hp. Single speed pumps run flat out every hour they operate. The TVS Pro lets you filter on Eco for most of the day and step up to Med or High only when you are vacuuming or backwashing. Because power draw falls sharply as speed drops, most Auckland households running a variable speed pump see a meaningful reduction in pool running costs. At Auckland rates of roughly 35 to 40 cents per kWh, that adds up quickly over a swim season.

Eco is your everyday filtration speed and where the pump should spend most of its running hours. Med suits chlorinator operation, heating and solar circulation, which need a certain flow rate to work correctly. High is for vacuuming, backwashing, and priming after servicing. The variable speed buttons let you fine tune each preset so the pump matches your equipment rather than the other way around.

In most Auckland installations, yes. The TVS Pro is designed as a straightforward retrofit and our technicians can usually adapt to existing pipework and unions. Where the old pump sits at an unusual height or the plumbing has been modified over the years, some minor pipework changes may be needed. We assess this on site before quoting so there are no surprises on installation day.

Any hardwired pool pump must be connected by a registered electrician under New Zealand electrical regulations. In an Auckland summer, most pools need the equivalent of a full turnover of water each day, which typically means six to eight hours on Eco. In winter you can usually reduce this to three or four hours. The right setting depends on pool volume, bather load and whether you have a chlorinator or heater that needs minimum flow. We set run times as part of every installation and adjust them seasonally for our valet customers.

The super sized housing was designed for quiet running, and because the pump spends most of its time on Eco rather than full speed, it is noticeably quieter than a conventional single speed pump. This matters most where the plant area sits close to a bedroom window, a neighbour's boundary or an outdoor living space, which is common on Auckland sections.

Empty the debris basket weekly, or more often in autumn if you have overhanging trees. The see through cover makes this a ten second check. Beyond that, keep the pump primed, avoid running it dry, and have the seals and bearings inspected during your annual service. The TVS Pro carries a manufacturer backed warranty, with the exact term and conditions set by the manufacturer and dependent on model and installation. Your purchase is also covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. We register the warranty for you, and if a fault arises we assess it and manage the claim with the supplier, so you deal with us rather than chasing a manufacturer yourself.
