Product Details

The Zodiac EL35 is a salt chlorinator offering higher chlorine output than the EL25, making it the better fit for larger residential pools, heavily used pools and pools with significant sun exposure.

Like all salt chlorination systems, it generates sanitiser continuously from lightly salted water rather than relying on manual dosing. Our team can confirm the right model for your pool volume and how the pool is used.

Warranty Info

The Zodiac EL35 is covered by a manufacturer-backed warranty. Duration, terms and conditions are set by the manufacturer, and cells are generally covered separately from the power supply.

Sparkling Pools can assist with warranty registration and act as your local point of contact if a fault arises, arranging assessment and coordinating the claim with the supplier.

Higher output salt chlorination for larger pools

The EL35 is the larger of the two models in Zodiac's EL range, producing more chlorine per hour than the EL25. That extra headroom matters on bigger pools, heavily used pools and pools that see a lot of sun, all of which place higher demand on sanitiser.

Why headroom is worth having

A chlorinator sized tightly to a pool has to run near its limit to keep up, particularly through summer. Choosing a unit with some capacity in reserve means shorter run times, less strain on the cell and more consistent water when demand spikes after heavy use or a run of hot weather.

Salt and water balance

Salt chlorination needs salt levels held within the manufacturer's range, and it works best when pH and calcium hardness are also in check. Salt is not consumed by the process, so once the pool is up to level it only needs topping up after dilution from rain, backwashing or splash-out.

Cell care

Cell life comes down to water balance and run hours more than anything else. Sparkling Pools can check cell condition during regular servicing and flag replacement before output drops enough to affect your water.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Zodiac EL35 Chlorinator

Answers to common questions about pool sizing, salt levels and cell life, so you can choose the right chlorinator with confidence.

Do I need the EL35 or will the EL25 do?

The EL35 (product code WW000265) produces more chlorine per hour than the EL25 and is built for larger and more heavily used residential pools. If your pool sits in full sun, gets heavy family use, or is on the larger side, the EL35 is the right call. Undersizing shows up in January when chlorine will not hold. Give us your pool volume and we will confirm.

What are the advantages of higher chlorine output?

A higher output chlorinator reaches the required chlorine level in fewer running hours, which means less pump run time, lower power consumption and less strain on the cell. It also gives you headroom when demand spikes after hot weather, heavy rain or a busy weekend, rather than leaving you dosing manually to catch up.

category
How long will the cell last?

Cell life is driven by water balance and total running hours, not by the calendar. Cells are consumable and replaceable. The most common causes of premature cell failure we see in Auckland are high calcium hardness and pH left to drift, both of which scale the plates. Regular servicing addresses both.

category
How much salt does my pool need?

Salt needs to sit within the range specified for the unit. Too low and chlorine production drops while the cell works harder, too high and you risk corrosion of some fittings and surfaces. We test salt levels at every service visit and correct as needed, which keeps the chlorinator in its efficient operating window.

category
Can it keep up in an Auckland summer?

That is exactly what it is built for. Chlorine demand rises sharply with UV, water temperature and bather load, and Auckland summers hit all three. The EL35's higher output gives the margin to hold sanitiser levels through peak season on a pool where an EL25 would be working at its limit.

category
Do I still need to add chemicals?

Less often, but yes. A chlorinator manages sanitiser, not water balance. You still need to manage pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness and stabiliser, and occasional shock dosing after heavy use or storms. Our valet service handles all of this so the chlorinator does its job and the water stays right.

category
Who installs it?

We do. A chlorinator is hardwired 240V equipment requiring a registered electrician under New Zealand rules. Sparkling Pools has a qualified electrician on the team, so plumbing into the return line, electrical connection, salt dosing and commissioning are handled together.

category
What maintenance does the chlorinator need?

Inspect the cell periodically for scale build up and clean it as recommended rather than aggressively, since over cleaning shortens cell life. Keep water balanced, maintain correct salt level, and keep the power supply unit dry and ventilated. Our service customers have all of this handled on a scheduled basis.

category
What warranty comes with the EL35?

A manufacturer backed warranty applies, with terms set by Zodiac. Cells are generally covered separately from the power supply, which is standard in this category. Your purchase is also covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. We register the warranty and act as your local point of contact for any claim.

category
Why buy from Sparkling Pools?

Because the chlorinator is only one part of a system, and it will only perform if the salt level, water balance and pump run times are right. We have kept Auckland pools clear since 1992. We size it, install it with a qualified electrician, commission it properly and can maintain it for you. Call 09 570 4797.

A complete swimming pool renovation featuring a premium aggregate resurfacing, new glass mosaic waterline tiles, and a fully retiled outdoor entertaining area, transforming a tired pool into a stunning backyard centrepiece.
Beautiful pool renovation from Seb, Ben and the team at Sparkling Pools. When we became excited about doing additional work (retiling the whole area and relaying turf) they accommodated that and helped project manage the timing and additional contractors on site. They worked to time and to budget and the result is outstanding. Definitely a sparkling pool!! Thanks so much, we are very happy.

Full pool and spa renovation in St Mary's Bay, Auckland, including Quartzon Galaxy interior resurfacing, new tiles and copings, lighting, heat pump installation, and filtration relocation.
In November 2011, my partner and I purchased a property with a swimming pool and spa. Having never previously owned a property with pool facilities, we relied on Grant, Julia and the rest of the team at Sparkling Pools to bring us up to speed with what was required to keep the pool in order. Combined with this, some pool equipment components had been neglected by previous owners; Grant made time to come and carry out a complimentary inspection of the pool, from a holistic perspective, and to give us detailed feedback on what improvements (heating, filtration equipment, covers etc) we could make, over time, bearing our budget in mind. The pool and spa are now looked after on a regular basis by Sparkling Pools on a specific customised maintenance plan. Denis (our dedicated valet man) comes on time, on the same week-day each time, and he does a great job maintaining the pool. We love the team from Sparkling Pools and we love the service we get from them. The pool and spa always look and feel fantastic, and looking after them is one job we just never have to worry about!

A full interior renovation of a large, elegant older pool on a beautiful Kohimarama property, including new Quartzon plaster, waterline tiles, copings, and LED lighting upgrades.
Our older pool was looking incredibly worn and really needed a complete refresh to match the character of our heritage property here in New Zealand. The team completely transformed the space. The new Santorini blue plaster and updated waterline tiles breathed completely new life into the area without losing its original elegance. The upgrade to modern LED lighting means the pool looks absolutely stunning in the evenings, creating a perfect atmosphere for entertaining. The entire process was incredibly professional, and the final result perfectly complements our home.

This project comprised all the classic elements of a comprehensive pool renovation; interior resurfacing, including some engineering adjustments; renovation of tile-work; full equipment upgrades and installations; and subsequent ongoing pool maintenance contract.
Last winter, Sparkling Pools undertook the renovation of our swimming pool. Sparkling Pools did a terrific job and we were delighted with the results. SPL’s performance throughout the project was very professional. Senior management constantly checked the work at different stages and they maintained excellent communication with us throughout. We are happy to commend Sparkling Pools to other Auckland pool-owners who might be considering pool interior renovations or equipment upgrades, particularly noting their reliability, their professionalism and the obvious pride they take in their work and their products. Subsequent to the pool renovations, SPL has continued to look after our pool on a regular basis and we are very happy to have them do so. With SPL looking after our pool, it is now one aspect of property care I never have to worry about.
