Hauraki Blue Pool Renovation in Auckland

The Challenge

This established Auckland pool had great proportions and plenty of character, but its original plaster surface was showing its age. The interior had become worn, stained and deteriorated across the floor, walls and steps, leaving the pool looking tired even when the water was clear.

Rather than continuing with short-term repairs, the owners decided it was time for a proper renovation.

The Solution

Sparkling Pools drained the pool and carefully prepared the existing shell for resurfacing. The old surface was hydro-hacked where required, minor drummy areas were repaired, cracks were opened and repaired, and the entire interior was prepared to provide a sound base for the new finish.

We then resurfaced the pool in NZ Pool Pebble Hauraki Blue, giving it a durable exposed aggregate interior while retaining the existing dark blue waterline and step tiles.

Once the resurfacing was complete, the pool was refilled, recommissioned and brought back into balance.

The Result

The renovation completely refreshed the appearance of the pool while keeping the character of the original design.

The new Hauraki Blue interior creates clean, bright blue water and works beautifully with the existing dark blue tiles and established garden surroundings. What was once a visibly ageing pool is now an inviting backyard feature ready for many more years of use.

We also provided six weeks of complimentary post-renovation pool care to help manage the important curing and water-balancing period following resurfacing.
