Kumeu Pool Renovation Project

This project comprised all the classic elements of a comprehensive pool renovation; interior resurfacing, including some engineering adjustments; renovation of tile-work; full equipment upgrades and installations; and subsequent ongoing pool maintenance contract.

This beautiful big pool needed to be not only re-surfaced but also to be re-levelled. The pool sits partially above ground on two sides and had started to subside at one corner. To prevent any further subsidence, the owner had commissioned retaining walls to be built along those 2 out-of-ground sides. Our job then, while re-surfacing the interior was to effectively make the pool appear level again, at least to the human eye.

We achieved this by finding the highest point of the pool walls and raising all the walls to equal this same height. Once that was done, we prepared the pool, laid new waterline tiles & pool copings, used an injection membrane product to seal a crack in the pool wall and resurfaced the interior with Quartzon quartz plaster, Santorini (our client’s colour choice).

We also installed new filtration equipment, including a large variable-speed, energy-saving eVo pool pump, a new filter and an eQuilibrium salt chlorinator equipped with pH and chlorine automatic controllers.

On completion of all that, we are proud to continue to look after this stunning rural pool on a regular basis, so our valet staff can keep an eye on everything, making sure that the pool always looks great and provides maximum pleasure to its owners, as it clearly should.

Last winter, Sparkling Pools undertook the renovation of our swimming pool. Sparkling Pools did a terrific job and we were delighted with the results.
