Valet Terms and Conditions
Sparkling Pools Auckland Limited · Version: October 2026
These terms apply to our recurring pool valet services and to any one-off job, repair or service visit under $1,000 (incl. GST). Larger projects, renovations and equipment installs are covered by our full Terms and Conditions of Service and Supply.
They are written to be plain and fair. If anything here is unclear, call us on 09 570 4797 or email info@sparklingpools.co.nz before your first visit.
1. Agreeing to these terms
- You accept these terms when you accept a quote, book a visit, or allow us to start work at your property.
- Where a quote or booking confirmation says something different from these terms, the quote or booking confirmation applies.
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
2. Your valet service
- Your quote sets out your service level (Economy, Full Pool Valet or Premium), your visit frequency and your price per visit.
- After every visit you receive a digital valet report showing what was done and your water test results.
- Our valet is a regular clean and water balance, with a visual check of your equipment. It is not a full inspection of your equipment, plumbing, electrics or pool structure. Where we notice something that needs attention, we’ll let you know and can quote for it.
- Your valets continue all year round at the frequency you agreed to, unless you ask us in writing to change it. A steady routine keeps your water consistently balanced and protects your pool surface and equipment, which are significant assets. There is no lock-in contract, and you can change or cancel at any time (see section 12).
3. Pricing
- All prices are per visit and exclude GST unless stated. GST is added at the current rate.
- Chemicals are supplied as needed, charged separately as used, and listed on your valet report.
- If your pool is green or out of balance when we arrive, it will need recovery visits before regular valets begin. Recovery visits are charged at our one-off pool clean rate (currently $98 + GST per hour) plus chemicals, until the water is clear and balanced.
- We review our prices from time to time. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before any price change to your regular service.
4. Invoices and payment
- We send one invoice by email at the end of each month, covering that month’s visits and chemicals.
- Invoices are due by the 20th of the month after the invoice date.
- You can pay by automatic direct debit, automatic credit card, or by paying each invoice yourself by card or bank transfer. Automatic payments are taken on or after the due date for the amount shown on your invoice.
- We may ask you to set up an automatic payment before your first visit. Where we do, your service starts once it is set up.
- If a payment is missed, we’ll contact you first.
- Reasonable costs of recovering an overdue amount, including debt collection fees, are added to the amount owing.
- If an account remains unpaid after 60 days, we may pause or end your service.
5. Access and safety
- By booking with us, you give our team permission to enter your property on scheduled visit days to reach the pool and equipment. You don’t need to be home.
- Please tell us about gate codes, keys, alarms, locked gates and pets. Dogs must be secured away from the pool area on visit days.
- Please make sure your pool equipment has power on visit days.
- If we can’t get in or can’t work safely (for example a locked gate, an unsecured dog or no power), we’ll let you know and arrange another time.
- We close pool gates behind us. Keeping your pool fence and gates compliant with pool safety rules is your responsibility as the owner.
6. Scheduling
- We aim to keep you on the same day and with the same technician.
- Your visit day or technician may change at short notice because of weather, illness, public holidays or operational needs. We’ll let you know as soon as we reasonably can.
- We work in light rain. Where weather makes the visit unsafe or pointless, such as thunderstorms or heavy rain, we’ll reschedule.
- If you need to move or skip a visit, please let us know by 4pm on the working day before.
7. Pausing your service
- You can pause your service, for example over winter or while you’re away, by letting us know.
- A pool left without service can turn green. When you restart, recovery visits may be needed and are charged as set out in section 3.3.
8. Looking after your pool between visits
- We look after your water on visit days. We can’t control what happens between visits, including weather, heavy use, leaves and debris, or equipment faults.
- If you or anyone else adds chemicals, changes settings or works on the equipment between visits, please tell us. We’re not responsible for water quality or equipment problems caused by changes made by others.
- Please let us know straight away if your water changes or your equipment stops working, so we can help before it gets worse.
9. One-off jobs and repairs under $1,000
- Any work outside your valet service that needs our electrician or a service technician, such as repairs, equipment faults or electrical work, is charged at $125 + GST per hour (one hour minimum) plus a $65 + GST vehicle fee, unless a fixed price is quoted.
- Parts and equipment are charged at our current retail price. Equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty. If you have a problem with something we supplied, call us first and we’ll help manage the claim.
- If we find more work is needed than expected, we’ll check with you before going further.
- For existing valet clients, one-off work is added to your monthly invoice. For other clients, invoices are due within 7 days of the invoice date.
10. Your pool’s condition when we start
- We take on your pool in the condition we find it. On our first visit we record its condition with photos and notes in your first valet report. That report is the starting point for our service.
- We’re not responsible for problems that existed before our first visit. These include worn, cracked, stained or drummy pool surfaces, leaks, damaged tiles, coping or fittings, and equipment that is old, worn or already faulty.
- Old or worn parts can fail during normal care, for example when a pump is restarted, a filter is backwashed or cleaned, or a lid or basket is removed. When that happens, the cause is the part’s existing condition, not our service. We’ll let you know and can quote to repair or replace it.
- Clearing a green or neglected pool can reveal problems that were hidden under the water, such as staining, surface damage or equipment faults. These are existing conditions, not caused by the clean.
- If something is damaged through our own mistake, we’ll own it and put it right.
11. Our responsibility
- We carry out our work with reasonable care and skill.
- To the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, for faults in equipment we didn’t supply or install, or for existing wear, damage or faults found during a visit.
- We carry $2 million public liability insurance.
12. Changing or cancelling your service
- You can change your service level or frequency, or cancel, at any time by emailing info@sparklingpools.co.nz or calling 09 570 4797.
- Please give us at least 7 days’ notice. You only pay for visits completed and chemicals used up to your final visit.
- If you pay by direct debit or credit card, we’ll cancel your automatic payment once your final invoice is paid.
- We may end the service with reasonable notice, or straight away if payments are overdue or our team can’t work safely at the property.
13. Privacy and photos
- We handle your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
- We share it only with the service providers we use to deliver your service, such as our job management, accounting and payment providers. We never sell it.
- Your valet reports include photos of your pool and equipment. We may use photos of our work for marketing, without your name, address or anything that identifies your property. Let us know in writing if you’d rather we didn’t.
14. General
- These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
- We may update these terms. We’ll email you before any change that affects you, and the current version is always at sparklingpools.co.nz/policy/valet-terms-and-conditions.
- If we have a disagreement, we’ll both try to resolve it in good faith first.
