AstralPool Halo Chlor 45 Salt Chlorinator

The Halo Chlor 45 is the flagship of AstralPool's Halo Connect System, a Good Design Award-winning platform that combines salt chlorination with smart pool automation. It pairs AstralPool's highest-output Halo cell with a large touchscreen and Wifi, Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity, so it can sanitise a very large pool and act as the control centre for the rest of your equipment.

Who the 45 is for

The Halo Chlor 45 is designed for pools up to 105,000 litres. It's the right choice for large family pools, long lap pools and resort-style backyard pools, as well as pools that face extreme demand for their size, such as holiday homes with lots of summer guests, pools in full sun, or pool and spa combinations. Choosing a chlorinator with capacity in reserve means it can typically run at a moderate setting, rather than being pushed to its limit through peak summer.

How it works

Salt in the pool water passes through the chlorinator cell, where electrolysis converts it into chlorine. Once the chlorine has done its job, it returns to salt, so the cycle repeats with only occasional top-ups. The reverse polarity cell periodically switches direction to shed calcium scale, which reduces manual cleaning and helps protect cell life.

Control from your phone

The Halo ChlorGO app mirrors the touchscreen on the power pack, so everything you can do at the equipment pad, you can do from your phone. Connect by Bluetooth at the poolside, or link the Halo Chlor to your Wifi network for remote access. You can adjust settings, set timers, check water temperature, monitor water health when sensors are fitted, and switch connected equipment on and off.

Built-in connections

Out of the box, the Halo Chlor includes a 240V power outlet for your filter pump, a water temperature sensor input and a connection for one AstralPool SLX or FLX pool light. It can also communicate with compatible AstralPool and Zodiac variable speed pumps to control pump speed.

Grow into full automation

Large pools usually come with more equipment, and the Halo system is designed to bring it all under one app. The Halo Chlor is required for every other Halo product to operate, and the add-ons connect to it by Bluetooth and simply plug into a standard power point:

Halo Doser with pH and ORP sensors keeps pH in range automatically and helps hold chlorine at the right level.

Halo Lite 2 and Halo Lite 4 control multiple pool lights, with built-in transformers and support for AstralPool, Zodiac LumiPower and Spa Electrics lights.

Halo Hub adds two power outlets, four valve actuator connections, heater control for gas, heat pump or solar, and extra temperature sensors, which is ideal for pool and spa combinations, water features and multiple pumps.

Halo Xpand adds two more power outlets and temperature sensors for an extra pump, blower or solar setup.

With a compatible pump, the Halo Doser and sensors installed, AI Mode can manage filtration and sanitation together from a single setting.

Choosing between the Halo models

The Halo range comes in 18, 25, 35 and 45 gram per hour models. If your pool is over 80,000 litres, or it's close to that size and works hard, the 45 is usually the right fit. For pools up to 80,000 litres, the Halo Chlor 35 may be enough. We'll confirm the correct model when we assess your pool.

Upgrading from an older AstralPool unit

The Halo 45 uses the same cell as the 45 gram Viron and Viron eQuilibrium models, which often makes upgrading from those chlorinators a straightforward swap. The power pack must be mounted at least 3.5 metres from the pool and connected by a qualified installer, which our team handles on every install.
