Zodiac FreeRider FR1000 iQ Cordless Robotic Cleaner

The FR1000 iQ (WR000527) is built to climb the walls and clean at water level, not just cover the floor. The waterline is where body oils, sunscreen and airborne dust accumulate into the grey band you see on tile and above the water. A cleaner that reaches it saves you scrubbing by hand.

Far less often. Full surface coverage handles the routine build up on floors, walls and waterline. You will still want an occasional manual brush in corners, steps and behind fittings where any cleaner has limited access, and that is included in our valet service if you are on a regular programme.

The FR500 iQ is a strong mid-range cordless cleaner. The FR1000 iQ adds wall and waterline coverage, which is the main reason to step up. If your floors stay reasonably clean but your walls and waterline are the problem, the FR1000 iQ is the model that solves it.

Fully cordless and battery powered, running completely independently of your filtration system. No cable to tangle even while climbing walls, which is exactly where corded cleaners give the most trouble on a large or complex pool.

Start and stop cycles, select cleaning modes and monitor progress from your phone. On a unit with multiple coverage modes, the app is genuinely useful because you can run a floor only cycle mid-week and a full floor, wall and waterline cycle before the weekend.

Run time varies by cycle selected, and detailed specifications are available on request. Battery lifespan over years depends mostly on storage: keep it out of direct sun, do not leave it in the water, and keep it charged rather than flat. We cover all of this at handover.

Robotic cleaners in this range are designed for the surfaces common on Auckland pools, including concrete, pebblecrete, quartzon, tile, fibreglass and vinyl. If you have an unusual surface, a heavily textured finish or a pool with an aggressive slope, talk to us first so we can confirm suitability.

Empty and rinse the canister after every run, rinse the unit occasionally with fresh water to clear salt, and check brushes and tracks for wear. Wall climbing models work their tracks and brushes harder than floor only units, so periodic inspection matters more.

A manufacturer backed warranty applies with terms set by Zodiac, and batteries are generally covered separately from the main unit. Your purchase is also covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. Sparkling Pools registers the warranty, assesses faults locally and coordinates the claim with the supplier.
