Zodiac MX6 Suction Cleaner

The MX6 is built for compact and mid-sized residential pools, which covers a lot of Auckland courtyard and townhouse pools. On a larger pool it will work but takes longer to cover the area, and the AX20 Activ or a robotic cleaner would be a better fit. Send us your pool dimensions and we will confirm.

It connects to your skimmer box and runs entirely off the suction from your existing filtration pump. No separate motor, no power supply, nothing to charge or plug in. Debris is drawn through the hose into your skimmer basket and filter.

Yes. The cleaner works only while your pump is operating, so cleaning happens during your normal filtration hours. On a variable speed pump, it needs a higher speed than your everyday filtration setting to drive properly, which we configure at installation.

It is one of the better options. On a compact pool, a full sized robotic cleaner can be more capability than you need, and the MX6 is simple, has no electronics and no battery, and costs considerably less to buy. For a small Auckland pool without heavy leaf load, it does the job well.

All debris goes through to your skimmer basket and filter, so on a property with heavy leaf fall you will be emptying the basket often through autumn. Netting the surface leaves first, or fitting an inline leaf catcher, makes a significant difference to how well the cleaner performs.

Correct hose length and correct flow adjustment. Too much hose and it bunches, too little and it cannot reach the far end. Flow set too low and it stalls, too high and it races over debris. We set both correctly at installation, which is what most self installs get wrong.

Keep the skimmer and pump baskets clear, check the hose for splits or leaks, and inspect wear parts periodically. Most performance complaints about suction cleaners trace back to restricted flow somewhere in the system rather than a fault in the cleaner.

Lower purchase price, no electronics, no battery and very little to go wrong. Against that, it depends on your pump running, and all the debris ends up in your filter. A robotic cleaner is independent, captures debris onboard and can clean walls and waterline. We will give you an honest comparison for your pool.

A manufacturer backed warranty applies, with duration and conditions set by Zodiac and dependent on how the cleaner is used and the surface it operates on. Your purchase is also covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. We register the warranty and handle any claim with the supplier.
