The AstralPool CTX is a single-speed pool pump designed to deliver higher head pressure than a standard filtration pump. That makes it well suited to pools running in-floor cleaning systems, spa jets or other equipment that needs more pressure to work properly.
Available in four sizes from 1 hp to 2 hp, the CTX pairs quality components with a large lint pot that requires less frequent attention. Reduced operating noise and solid build quality make it a practical long-term choice for demanding residential and light commercial applications.
- Models: CTX 280C (1.0 hp), CTX 360C (1.25 hp), CTX 400C (1.5 hp), CTX 500C (2.0 hp)
- Voltage: 240V, single phase
- Input power: 1070W to 1900W depending on model
- Maximum flow rate at 8 m head: 280, 360, 400 and 500 lpm respectively
- Full load amps: 4.5 to 8.3
- Energy consumption: 1280 to 1572 kWh per year on rated models
- Large lint pot for reduced maintenance
- Suitable for in-floor cleaning systems and spa jets
The AstralPool CTX Pump is covered by a manufacturer-backed warranty. Duration, terms and conditions are set by the manufacturer and depend on the model, the installation and how the pump is maintained.
Sparkling Pools can assist with warranty registration and act as your local point of contact if a fault arises, arranging assessment and coordinating the claim with the supplier.
High performance where extra pressure is needed
Not every pool pump has to do the same job. Where a pool runs an in-floor cleaning system, spa jets or a long or complex pipe run, a standard filtration pump can struggle to generate the pressure those systems need. The CTX series is built for exactly that situation.
Higher head pressure
The CTX has been designed to deliver noticeably higher head pressure and overall performance than comparable single-speed pumps, so pressure-dependent equipment operates as intended rather than underperforming.
Moves more water in fewer hours
By moving a greater volume of water using less power, the CTX can meet the demands of connected equipment while running for fewer hours each day. Less frequent cleaning and shorter run times both help keep running costs down.
Built to last
Made from quality materials and components, the CTX is designed for greater efficiency and lower noise levels than older-generation pumps, with a large lint pot that reduces how often the basket needs clearing.
Getting the specification right
Choosing between the 280C, 360C, 400C and 500C depends on what the pump has to drive, not just the pool size. Sparkling Pools can review your cleaning system, jets and pipework before recommending a model.

Frequently Asked Questions About the AstralPool CTX Pump
Answers to common questions about pressure, sizing and compatibility, so you can choose the right CTX model with confidence.
The CTX range runs CTX 280C (1.0 hp), CTX 360C (1.25 hp), CTX 400C (1.5 hp) and CTX 500C (2.0 hp), delivering 280, 360, 400 and 500 litres per minute respectively at 8 m head. Match the model to your pool volume, pipe size and any equipment that needs a minimum flow rate. Send us your pool dimensions and equipment list and we will confirm the right size.
In floor cleaning systems and spa jets need sustained flow against high head pressure, which is exactly where the CTX performs. Many general purpose pumps deliver good flow on paper but fall away when working against the resistance of a valve driven in floor system. If you have in floor cleaning, tell us before you buy because pump choice matters far more than usual.
Rated CTX models consume between 1,280 and 1,572 kWh per year depending on size. At Auckland rates of roughly 35 to 40 cents per kWh, that is a meaningful line on your power bill, particularly on the larger models. If your pool does not need high head performance, a variable speed pump will generally cost less to run. We are happy to model both options for you.
The oversized lint pot holds more leaves and debris before it needs emptying, which means fewer restricted flow events and less nuisance maintenance. On Auckland properties with pohutukawa, liquidambar or other heavy leaf drop, this is a practical advantage through autumn when a standard basket can fill within days.
In most cases yes, though the CTX has a larger footprint than some older pumps, so plant area space and pipework alignment need checking. Our technicians measure this during the site visit and include any pipework adaptation in the quote, so the install is a fixed price rather than an open ended job.
Yes. New Zealand regulations require a registered electrician for hardwired pool equipment. Sparkling Pools has a qualified electrician in the team, so supply, plumbing and electrical connection happen in the one visit with one point of accountability, and the work is done to standard.
Aim to turn over the full pool volume each day. For most Auckland pools running a CTX, that is around six to eight hours in summer and three to four in winter. If you have a salt chlorinator, run hours also need to be long enough to produce the chlorine your pool demands, which increases in hot weather and with heavy bather load.
Clear the lint pot weekly, keep the lid seal clean and lightly lubricated, and never run the pump dry. Have the mechanical seal and motor bearings checked annually. Most pump failures we attend in Auckland trace back to a blocked basket or a leaking lid seal drawing air, both of which are avoidable with a two minute weekly check.
The CTX carries a manufacturer backed warranty, with duration and conditions set by AstralPool and dependent on model, installation and maintenance. Your purchase is also covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. Full details are available at astralpool.co.nz. We register the warranty, assess faults locally and manage the claim with the supplier for you.
Because pump selection is a technical decision, not a shopping decision. We have been in Auckland pools since 1992 and we know which pumps hold up on local installations and which ones do not. We size against your real plumbing, install with a qualified electrician, commission the system properly and remain your service contact. Call 09 570 4797 or email info@sparklingpools.co.nz.
