The XP range starts at 1.5 hp and goes to 3 hp, with flow rates from 440 to 635 litres per minute at 8 m head. It suits larger residential pools, pools with long pipe runs or significant elevation change, and light commercial installations. For a standard family pool, a smaller pump will usually do the job for less. We will tell you honestly if the XP is more pump than you need.

Single phase XP models (1.5, 2 and 3 hp) run on standard 240V supply and suit most residential properties. Three phase models (2 and 3 hp) run on 400V and are typically used where a property already has three phase supply, often on larger or commercial sites. Yes. The XP range supersedes the earlier BX generation. If you have a BX pump reaching end of life, the XP is the natural upgrade path and our technicians can advise on which XP model matches or improves on your existing BX performance without oversizing.

The XP was designed to run cooler with reduced fan noise, which is a real improvement over older high output pumps. That said, any 2 or 3 hp pump moves serious volume and makes some noise. If plant noise is a concern on your property, raise it with us at quoting stage because siting, mounting and enclosure all make a difference.

Input power runs from 1,500W to 3,200W depending on model, so this is a pump that rewards sensible run times. At Auckland electricity rates of roughly 35 to 40 cents per kWh, an oversized XP running longer than necessary gets expensive. We set run hours to achieve proper turnover without waste, and review them seasonally for our valet customers.

The XP is Australian designed and manufactured for Australasian pool conditions, including salt chlorinated water and warm season use, which is directly relevant to Auckland. Parts availability through the local supplier network is also good, which matters when you need a repair in January rather than a replacement.

We do. A pump of this size must be connected by a registered electrician, and three phase installations in particular need proper assessment of your switchboard capacity. Weekly lint pot clearing, annual inspection of seals and bearings, and attention to water balance to protect the wet end from salt corrosion. Larger pumps generally move more debris into the basket, so on leafy Auckland properties an inline leaf catcher is worth considering to reduce the load.
