Estuary Sediment and a Small Community
Stillwater sits on a tidal estuary rather than the open coast, and that changes what reaches the pool. There is far less sand and salt spray than on the peninsula bays, but there is fine estuarine sediment lifted off the mudflats on a wind at low tide. It is finer than beach sand, which means more of it passes through a filter rather than being caught by it, and it clouds water in a way that looks like a chemical problem when it is actually a filtration one.
Sections here are generous and semi rural, so a number of properties run on tank supply. Soft, low calcium tank water will gradually work on a plaster interior if hardness is never corrected, which is a slow problem that only shows up after several seasons.
