Servicing the Largest Pool Population in Auckland

Remuera pools tend to be older, larger and more heavily landscaped than the Auckland average, and all three of those things change what good service looks like. Age means a lot of these pools are on their second or third interior, with plumbing that has been altered several times and plant that has been added to over decades. It is rarely as simple as looking up the original specification, because the original specification stopped applying twenty years ago.

Size matters for dosing. A 70,000 or 80,000 litre pool needs substantially more of everything than a standard suburban pool, and the most frequent correction we make on a first visit here is a chemical routine that was set for a smaller pool and never revisited. The water sits permanently slightly off, which is enough to shorten the life of an expensive interior.

The landscaping is the third factor. Mature oaks, planes, magnolias and camellias on these sections drop across a long season, and many pools sit within a wider setting that includes a spa, a pool house, extensive paving and sometimes a tennis court. Debris load is high and it is varied, from large leaf that a skimmer handles to fine petal and pollen that goes straight to the floor.

Across the central pools we look after, mineral sanitiser has become more common than straight salt, usually running on a Hayward chlorinator with glass media in the filter and a variable speed pump. It is a good combination, and it does need the mineral level checked properly at each visit rather than assumed.
