Older Pools Worth Keeping in Lynfield

Lynfield has a lot of pools that were built well, have been kept reasonably, and are now old enough that owners start wondering whether they are worth spending money on. A properly built 1970s concrete pool with a sound shell is a better asset than a new fibreglass pool of the same size, and a resurface plus new plant will usually cost a fraction of a replacement.

The question worth asking is whether the shell is sound, not whether the surface looks tired. A rough, patchy, discoloured interior is cosmetic and entirely fixable. Structural cracking, persistent unexplained water loss or movement in the shell is a different conversation. We would rather establish which one you have before anyone talks about money.

Lynfield's flat, open sections mean less shade and less leaf load than the villa suburbs to the north, so water tends to stay warmer and clearer here through summer. The trade off is more sun on the interior, which fades and weathers older plaster faster, and higher evaporation, which concentrates everything left in the water.
