Flat Bush pools are almost all under twenty years old and most are considerably younger than that. The issue here is rarely age, it is setup. A large number of these pools were installed as part of a house build or a landscaping package, handed over with a brief explanation, and have run on guesswork since. The water is usually not disastrous, it is just never quite right, and over five or ten years that shows up in the interior.
Section sizes are the other defining factor. Pools sit tight to the house, often with paving right to the edge and a fence within a metre or two. That is efficient use of space and it creates two practical problems. Plant gets installed in whatever gap is left, usually a narrow, roofed side run with poor airflow, which shortens equipment life. And there is very little planting or open ground to catch wind blown debris before it reaches the water.
Because the pools are small and the sections are hard surfaced, anything that lands in the water stays concentrated. A single storm that washes grit off paving into a 20,000 litre pool has a far bigger effect than the same event on a 60,000 litre pool with lawn around it. Filtration run times need to reflect that.
