Drury is a construction site on a regional scale, and that is the dominant factor for pools here. Earthworks and concrete work put cement dust into the air across large areas, and cement dust in a pool pushes pH up sharply. A pool sitting at high pH holds a normal chlorine reading while doing almost nothing with it, which is why water can look wrong when every test looks right.

Anyone within a few hundred metres of active development should be testing more often than usual until the work is done. It is temporary, but a season at high pH will scale and etch an interior permanently.

The ground here is heavy clay on flat river country, which moves seasonally and drains poorly. On new builds, paving and coping laid on recently worked ground will settle over the first few years, opening joints. On lower lying sections the water table is high enough that draining a pool is a decision to check first rather than make casually.
